Look closely. You must ignore the fish scale looking shiny coat across from the photo taker and look further. Zoom, zoom, and then two finger pinch multizoom. Yes, this is a public Chipotle, and that chick’s ass is hanging out.

Three Lakers overslept due to iPhone bug

Jan

The Lakers are not exactly in the best shape these days. Their winning odds have been reduced significantly since last year with a string of recent losses. Reports out of Las Vegas’ bookies are stating that there has been a recent twist to how bets were being made last week.

It appears the professional gambling rings have been prodding players for information regarding which type of cell phone they use. Specifically, they have been asking if the players are using iPhones. It seems a bug with the iPhone has surfaced which caused alarms after the New Year to not go off as scheduled. Because of this, teams have had players over sleep and miss entire practices.

Ric Bucher has the story for ESPN.com:

Pau Gasol appeared to be sleep-walking through much of the Lakers’ embarrassing loss to the Memphis Grizzlies at the Staples Center on Sunday. It turns out that might not have been too far from the truth.

“My alarm didn’t go off so I woke up past the time,” Gasol said. “I still went to shootaround, just a little later than I should have been.”

But a team official said Tuesday that Gasol missed the team’s entire morning shootaround.

Three Lakers in all said they did not get up on time because the alarm clocks on their iPhones malfunctioned that morning, sources said, but Gasol was the only one who didn’t show up at all. Luke Walton was one of the other two Lakers who arrived late. The third Laker was not identified but sources said it was not Kobe Bryant. A source would only confirm that Gasol missed the shootaround.

Gasol had a terrible game in the loss — 10 points, eight rebounds and five turnovers — and this malfunction certainly could have been a reason for the problem. The problem of sluggishness has been more pronounced with teams from the West coast that face an earlier time zone when playing on the East coast.

Rick Roald of Clovis, CA was a fan who happened to take advantage of the iPhone alarm clock bug. “I missed my flight Saturday coming back from Vegas. My alarm didn’t go off, and I arrived at the airport about an hour late. As I sat in the hotel lobby, I decided to place some bets against teams who might have the same fate as I. I bet against the Lakers and ended up winning $12,000.”

It is unsure when Apple is planning to issue a permanent fix. Reports from users show that the bug was still causing problems as of Thursday. No other teams were able to confirm the iPhone bug had any effect on their performance.

Gasol improved his performance Tuesday night and finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and no turnovers. Maybe he switched to a BlackBerry and woke up at the right time. Even so, it continues to be a bad season for the Lakers. They need to wake up from this nightmare of a season. Let’s just hope they don’t count on Apple for that.
